The construction project of ceramic RTD consists of a coil (depending on version two spirals) platinum encapsulated in a ceramic tube of high purity.

The empty spaces left between the platinum coil and the inner walls of the tube are filled with a material that allows movement of contraction or expansion of platinum during temperature variations.

This is precisely the main advantage of this construction type as, in this way, the hysteresis effects and permanent changes of the electric resistance values are considerably minimized, in addition to remarkable stability over time.

 

This construction also ensures the protection of the platinum coil against external pressures and forces. The ceramic sensors may be used on a wide temperature range, from -200 ºC to +960 ºC, depending on the configuration. The tolerances available on the ceramic sensors vary from class 2B of W0.6 to 1/10 of W0.3, with different temperature coefficients such as 0.3850, 0.3916 or 0.3925 ohm/K.

CWW (CERAMIC WIRE WOUND)

Due to their design, the ceramic type platinum sensors allow high durability, stability, and different temperature coefficients ( TC:3916ppm ) for spiralled wired. They also serve for several applications, such as laboratory, process technology, and high value-added equipment.

The applications where highly accurate measurement is necessary should be built considering the CWW and 4 extension wires, however, the 3-wire construction is the most commonly found. In other words, for applications that require a high precision measurement, the sensor should be built with the CWW. Although the electric connection with 3 wires is commonly used, connections with 4 wires is the most precise one.

​We also can offer versions of two double sensors in a single ceramic body. As equal as the single sensors, the two double sensors are extremely durable and robust to external pressures. Our sensors measure the temperature of gases, liquids and solids, from 196 ºC to 850 ºC.
